《我爱断背衫》以伦敦的华裔男同志为主人翁，刻画他们身为亚洲男同志在西方社会里的各种际遇。片中2名华裔主角，一个是有胆做娘娘腔的艾许，一个是不满足只有单一性伴侣的阳刚猛男梅尔，两位都对金发碧眼的外国人有所偏好，本片是香港同志电影节策划－杨曜恺的第一部长片。以幽默的笔触刻画伦敦华人男同志的爱情生活。不仅挑战了同志本身的“恐同”，也颠覆了西方对东方的阴性遐想，堪称亚洲男同电影新品种。
