“日耳曼尼亚”是希特勒授命施佩尔设计的第三帝国新首都的名字。因此第一集讲述了施佩尔从第一次见到施佩尔，到如何受到赏识，进而成为希特勒的挚友。影片用了很多笔墨描写施佩尔与希特勒之间的友谊。值得提出的是，虽然《第三帝国兴亡录》里说纳粹高层有一批“相公癖”即同性恋者。但施佩尔和希特勒的关系并没有这样。希特勒本人很讨厌同性恋，并因此处分过高层将领。
纽伦堡主要反映纽伦堡国际军事法庭战后如何审判纳粹要员。施佩尔并没有直接参与大屠杀和进攻其他国家，加上战争末期拒绝摧毁德国的工业设施，被判监禁20年。但在法庭上，施佩尔曾企图刺杀希特勒结束战争一事被揭露，导致副元首鲁道夫•赫斯、帝国元帅戈林等人与施佩尔决裂...
